Is it safe to use a banana tree in my enclosure? I cant find anything that says they are toxic to chams.....I know they can eat bananas but I am not sure about the plant itself. The huge leaves would be amazing for water to collect on!
Bruce is always watching me.....its kind of creepy sometimes haha. I would love to see how everyones chams act when they think they are being sneaky! Feel free to share your cham in the act :).
Just thought I would share a couple pictures of Bruce in the first few months of his life :) Photos taken from Iphone so quality is not the best. He is my first ever cham and I have enjoyed every day with him in my home! He is starting to show a bit of yellow in his stripes on his sides and tail...
First off, I am not planning to breed any chams as of now, as I am still fairly new to the hobby :). I am also not trying to make a quick buck! My question is ...when a clutch is laid, what do breeders do with their excess chams? Surely not everyone who has breed has sold? I would love to...
So I read in a chameleon book today that Chamaeleonids are known to emit purrs from their body much like other members of the animal kingdom. Apparently you can even feel it to the touch too! Has anyone ever felt or heard their cham purr?
So I would like to be able to buy my approximately 4 month old veiled a plant to free range on and sit next to a window in my apartment. The question I have is if it would be wise to attempt this? He is very very shy about me coming in and around his cage...usually leaving his basking spot and...
Hey all, I have had my veiled now for about two and a half months and am still not sure what his age is! If you all could give me your opinions I would appreciate it! He was very small when I got him...probably very young too.
Hello, currently I am feeding my baby veiled crickets and mealworms. I understand he needs a variety for his diet, but I cannot find any stores near me that sell anything other than the usual feeders. Do you all have suggestions on what is small enough to feed him, and where I can find them online?
Hello all, as a new cham owner, I am still learning about my new baby and noticed some cool patterns on my male. I could not manage a picture, but he will get dark green and white patterns along his spine, and the rest of his body will be a bright green. I have only seen this pattern when he is...
Hey all! So I have had my baby veiled for about a week now, and as a new cham owner, I started to notice some pretty funny things these guys do! Bruce is usually an acrobat, but today he was climbing across a vine that bent the longer he stayed on it. When he finally grabbed the vines he was...
Hey all, i was wondering if you guys knew the age/sex of this baby veiled. I was told it was a male. It is too small to see any spur, and as this is my first chameleon I am a bit curious as I have been calling him Bruce! (Bruce Lee). It is very small, but has a heck of an appetite! Sorry for...
Hello, this may be a silly question but is it normal for my baby male veiled to have brown horizontal dashes across his side? He seems to be very healthy, always hungry and active during the day and sleeps all night. He keeps hydrated as I always see him next to his dripper. His cage temps are...
Hey all, i have a baby veiled all set up in his cage with everything he needs. My question is about crickets....I have lots of small brown crickets that he loves to hunt for, but I dont feel safe leaving them in the cage with him. I put about 6 in there to start with today to see how he does...
Hello, I got my first chameleon yesterday and was quite curious as to the color changes. I have noticed that most times he is a solid light green with some brownish stripped features, but have also seen him with recognizable patterns on his sides. Any info would be appreciated :)
Hey all, got my first veiled chameleon yesterday! Before I head to the store to pick up more supplies, I was wondering what all will be best for my new baby to eat! He has been eating crickets as well as fruit flies constantly and seems to enjoy hunting them. From what i have read, it seems...
