Well, I've held on and have done good, but its come to that time of the year where we should all enjoy but some of us dread. Holidays (and on top of that 3 birthdays).
Waldo, thankfully is happy and healthy, a lot more calm then I expected, but unfortunately, quite hungry on some days...
So, after months and months of building and heavy expenses; everything from supplies to tools needed (I had nothing, no saw, no hammer, no anything!)
I've decided my DIY cage needs an overhaul and here is why:
My humidity levels are at a constant low (less then 40% majority of the day)
I fear...
Many of you have seen my numerous threads on how small I think Waldo is for his age (6 months) and how he has no colors and my worry that its may have been a health concern or husbandry problem. All have assured me different growth rates for different chameleons, etc, and it calmed me.
Well...
I debated between a MistKing and an AquaZamp for a matter of 10 minutes. Luckily I had the chance to speak with Kevin, from AquaZamp while doing so. He mentioned a ton of facts about AquaZamp other then the fact that the parts were all made in the USA. Can't go wrong with the good ole' U S of...
So, it seems in a matter of 20 minutes, Waldo has gone from his normal green, to eating 15 crickets, to sitting in his favorite spot with........a new yellowish-orange color to the middle of his torso!
Photos were edited, no saturation change, just greyscale
Unedited
20...
Waldo is extremely camera shy, if you couldnt tell by most of my pics, I'm usually 5ft away using a 200mm zoom camera. Today though, he let me tape his eating habits. he was still nervous, and I'm lead to believe on his first shoot at the cricket he was between watching me and watching...
Only curious on what everybody keeps their house temperatures at, day and night....and what temperatures do their enclosures read when their house is at that temperature.
Only curious because I seem to have to work extra hard to get my enclosure to read good base temperatures and to do so I...
My set-up:
-4' Tall x 2' Wide x 31" Deep
-3 Live plants; Ficus, Hibiscus, and Dracaena
-Back and Right side of enclosure are covered with a clear vinyl shower curtain
-Monsoon RS400 set on a timed mist with an EcoZone Controller; 4 minute mist at 930am, 2 minutes mist at 1230pm, 2 minute...
So, I know handling is not the best for chameleons. I try not to handle Waldo at all....BUT
...recently, Ive been picking him up out of his cage, especially after reading all the threads on natural sunlight and behavior. I'll come home and pick Waldo up and sit on the back porch with him as...
I know its not good to grow too fast, but is it not good to grow too slow?
Out of curiosity is there a "normal" amount of shed processes that a Chameleon a certain age should go through? For instance, my Waldo just had his 3rd shed today and he is just a eek over 5 months. Is that normal...
Hate to start a thread for one picture, but this is one of the chances Waldo gets to go outside with the Texas weather being so hot outside.
He seemed to crawl to the top of my hand and just bask in that Sun as it set
I understand that there should be an assortment of temperatures in a chameleons enclosure. What should the differences be and whats the easiest way to achieve this? My house thermostat is set at 76 during the 100 degree part of the day and 78 during the 80 and below degree part of the day...
Is there an age at which i should expect to see a significant growth in my Cham?
Here is a link to my introductory/How to ask for help page:
https://www.chameleonforums.com/my-late-introductory-56015/
I'm assuming Waldo is around 2 months old. He doesnt look much different then he has...
I never did one of these, and I feel as if I should have rather then barge into the forums asking for help without letting anybody know about myself. This site has been of great help and possibly saved me from grief as I was following directions for an adult Cham rather than a young baby. So...
I just ordered 250 1/4" crickets from LLL and received them a few seconds ago. They seem a lot bigger then what I had imagined (picture comparison on their site) The shipping receipt has Crickets 34500 as a description with 3/4 500 next to it.
Anybody order crix from them before, does this...
Just ordered a 250 count of 1/4" feeder crickets from LLL. Got to say, I am already feeling more comfortable with these crickets then the store boughts from petco or the local pet shop. The description of the feeders is outstanding and having bought my Cham and its startup kit from them, I...
I realize if my Cham, Waldo, ever grows....He is eventually going to need a much bigger home than his current enclosure.
After going through many threads here looking at some DIY ideals, I decided to spend way to much time thinking and creating this rough draft layout of what I would like to...
My Cham, which i called to find out yesterday is about 4-5 weeks old, makes this clicking noise after puffing up the flap under his chin.
I've taken a video, and you may need to turn up the volume to get a better hearing of it. It happens earlier on, cant see the flap puff up but can barely...
After doing a great deal of research on Veiled Chameleons I decided to make a purchase believe I can accommodate all its needs. While I think I've done this quite well, I still believe I could use some improvement, especially on the location of the enclosure. I ask for help/advice. Waldo, my...
