I am looking for advice on making dowel rods look more like something found in nature.
I am open to almost all options. Basically I am building latices out of dowel rods to support a vine system and live plants.
Here's what I was thinking.
Paint the dowels with a latex based paint (one...

Sorry I haven't been around in forever (like a month or 2 lol) been so busy. Just got back from a seeing a good friend of mine's performance at Club Vertigo in Sciota,PA was a great time.
I managed to get one good video of her performing "You were meant for me" by Jewel...
If my male weighs about 350 grams (not 100% sure on that, my scale kinda sucks..) 7 to 8 inch snout to vent. The Female weighs in at about 62 grams and about 4.5 inch snout to vent now. How much should the female weigh before it is safe to attempt to breed them?
This will be my first time...
Now that winter is getting near I have decided to get Ceramic Heat Bulbs for my chameleon cages.
The question I have is, what wattage would be appropriate? I haven't use them in a long time and can't remember the wattage/heat output.
This might seem like a very weird question but I need to ask.
Is it to freeze Hornedworms and thaw them out to feed to your chameleon as needed?
The reason I ask is that my chameleon will eat them even if they don't move.
So, I Finally had time to go outside and play with my new Camera today (a Nikon 5100).
Got some really nice pictures of Link my Ambilobe Panther.
Here are 2 of my favorites that I took today. (I will upload more to a blog later just need to resize them since they are all currently 4928 X 3264)...
I was looking into getting new Fruit Fly colonies (mine got invaded by flying ones :()
Is the care of Hydei the same as Melanogaster (which is what I've been using)?
Do they have similar life cycle lengths?
Is there an advantage to one over the other?
Thanks all
I am planning my trip to South Carolina for the end of the month and was wondering if there was anything I should try to go see while I am down there. I am going to be in Hilton Head (as far south as you can go without being in Georgia), any suggestions within about 30 miles of Hilton Head would...
Hi all, sorry its been so long since I have posted (medical stuff sucks).
Just wanted to announce that Karma my 10 - 12 month old Veiled just laid her first clutch. She had dug like three pilot holes and I was getting worried but hen this morning I checked her camera and saw she was much...
So the Mantid Oath that I just got just hatched (only got it the other day). Does anyone know how often they need to be fed? I've decided to raise a few up to adults cause it might be fun.
I just got home from the reptile show in Hamburg, PA. I made the mistake of bringing money :).
I ended up buying 2 more Pygmy Chameleons. Plus I got some good photos of the ones I got about a month ago.
This is Nana (female Bearded Pygmy I bought last month).
This is Popo (male Bearded Pygmy...
Does anyone have experience with Yellow Tree Monitors (Varanus melinus)?
Or know of a good forum to ask about them?
My question is how much food should be offered, and how often for a small monitor (about a foot in length)?
Hello all, I ran into a problem. I ran out of Hornedworm food today, my question is there anything I might have laying around that is safe to feed to them while I wait for the food I ordered today to get here (probably Wednesday).
Stuff I have laying around:
Cricket Food
Raspery Gecko Food...

I was wondering if the care requirements for Rusty Reds (Blatta lateralis) are much different from that of Dubia Roaches. I was thinking about starting a colony to help give my chameleons a better variety in their diet. Right now I just have 1000 real small babies that I got to test my Bearded...
I was wondering, how other forum members pick names for their chameleons?
Mine I pick videogame characters and 80s pop culture.
Panthers : Link and Peach (Princess Peach)
Veileds : Karma Chameleon and Ganon
Bearded Pygmies: Popo and Nana (aka. The Ice Climbers)
I have also nicknamed...
Was wondering if my new Bearded Pygmy Chameleons (about 1in snout/vent) would be able to eat freshly hatched Lateralis (1/8 in.) or freshly born Dubias. Right now I am using fruit flies with them but want to get away from those since my new dart frogs need them.
Well, just got back from the reptile show in Reading, PA. I went to get a few 1/8 in. Dubias (which nobody had), and pickup a chameleon from a fellow forum member. Needless to say I ended up spending way to much money.
I ended up with:
1.0 - 14ish Month old BlueBar Ambilobe Panther...
