Tribute To My Sweet Little Tate

Sorry, Jann. :( He was a handsome, happy boy. Never forget the good times with him.

    Source for silkworms?

I was able to submit an order for a live silkworm pod from Coastal Silkworms, just select east coast. For me it was probably more costly than if I could order from the west coast, but I don't think it should make much difference for you in Illinois.

    Rudis maybe????

Did you decide on the Rudis for sure? Such awesome little chams from what I've heard. I wish I had space for some myself. :)

    Traveling with cham?

Good to hear, Joe. I'll check with the airline before I decide to board her for sure.

    Traveling with cham?

Turns out the Bird & Exotic Clinic of Seattle can board clients, so I got her an appointment next week. Yay! Btw thanks Lathis for the thought! :D

    Traveling with cham?

Darn. It's so weird that birds can be taken on flights but not a chameleon. It stinks because I don't really know anybody out here (only been on this side of the country for a couple of years and work from home).

    Traveling with cham?

I will probably be making a cross-country trip for Christmas, and I may also be doing so in a few weeks. Has anybody flown with their chams? Which airlines allow this, if any? Would that be better than finding someone to babysit my young female veiled for the week or so that I am gone...

Trying to regulate heat and humity

Males will need higher basking temps than females, but you want them to have a lower temp as juveniles either way, around 82 at highest. That's the temp I maintain for my female veiled using a 25 watt incandescent house bulb. An adult male panther would need a basking temp in the 85-90 degree...

Trying to regulate heat and humity

Good questions above. Also, what type of chameleon do you have? Is it male or female?

    Quick Meller Question.

Definitely, didn't want to freak you out or anything, just thought I'd throw it out there just in case. Good to hear that that doesn't sound like the problem. :) It sounds to me like he's yawning. They'll usually sit with their mouths open for a long time if they're too hot. What's the temp...

    Quick Meller Question.

I've been lucky not to experience this with my chams, but I think that behavior can be indicative of a respiratory infection if it happens often and if you see a lot of excess saliva/mucus in the cham's mouth. Others feel free to correct me if I'm off. Otherwise, it can be yawning or he could...

    Losing Karma...

No matter what type of pet I lose or how many, it tears my heart out. Our chams are not lesser than any other pets. I too feel that you can bond very closely with a cham. After all we spend so much time with them! Very sorry for your loss. Sending hugs from Seattle.

    My veiled is a jerk

Don't give up on him. :) As others have stated, all chams are individuals and it takes time for any cham to get used to you. The cham in my avatar, sitting on my head, was a super friendly MALE veiled. He went everywhere with me and would let anybody handle him. He did not start off...

My veiled likes collard greens, and they are very good for chams. Dandelion greens are also a good choice.
