I was able to submit an order for a live silkworm pod from Coastal Silkworms, just select east coast. For me it was probably more costly than if I could order from the west coast, but I don't think it should make much difference for you in Illinois.

Darn. It's so weird that birds can be taken on flights but not a chameleon. It stinks because I don't really know anybody out here (only been on this side of the country for a couple of years and work from home).

I will probably be making a cross-country trip for Christmas, and I may also be doing so in a few weeks. Has anybody flown with their chams? Which airlines allow this, if any? Would that be better than finding someone to babysit my young female veiled for the week or so that I am gone...

Males will need higher basking temps than females, but you want them to have a lower temp as juveniles either way, around 82 at highest. That's the temp I maintain for my female veiled using a 25 watt incandescent house bulb. An adult male panther would need a basking temp in the 85-90 degree...

No matter what type of pet I lose or how many, it tears my heart out. Our chams are not lesser than any other pets. I too feel that you can bond very closely with a cham. After all we spend so much time with them! Very sorry for your loss. Sending hugs from Seattle.

My veiled likes collard greens, and they are very good for chams. Dandelion greens are also a good choice.
