Live Plant for Approval

Hello,

I looked through the Live plant database, but I didn't find this plant I bought. I have not put it in the cage yet as I don't want to put it in until I get it passed by this forum.

Anyone know if this plant is ok. I bought it from Home Depot. They called it a Spider Ficus, but I am not good with plant names or plants in general. So here is a picture of what it looks like.

Please let me know if anyone knows if this is good.

Yes, this plant won't be a problem for your chameleon. It's an alternative of the commom begamin ficus. I've had it in my terrariums for more than a year without harm.

Still keep in mind to always check your chameleon's eyes when using ficus, as it's sap is very irritative.

Hello,

Nice ficus! I want to bonsai it. :)

I'm addicted to buying nice looking ficus plants when I see them. The Ficus benjamina (weeping ficus) is the most common one I see, but I really like finding anything that is variegated, like yours with plenty of white in the leaves. Recently I acquired a Ficus triangularis. It is very young and has developed figs already. They gave it some goofy name because it's variegated... "coconut cream".

Once a bonsai expert told me that the white is caused by a virus. He also said that given enough time, all of my Ficus (whether they are benjamina, or the creeping variety) will develop figs. I'm pretty sure he meant just the female plants though.

Thanks for the replies people. Now that I know it is safe, I will re-pot it and clean it before I put it in his cage.

well we now know that Casper S. Petersen hates this ficus.

Thanks Casper for your input.

Shaner, I use that plant in a couple of my enclosures. They seem to hold up really well. I like the yellow on green leaves. Gives it a nice look IMO
