Unsure of species or sex

Can someone please let me know what kind of chameleon this is and also how can I identify the sex? I was given this chameleon last night and the previous owners didn't know much about it, they found him/her walking across the street out in the middle of no where. I appreciate any help I can get on identifying exactly what type this is so that I am better able to customize care for him/her. Thank you!

Hard to say for sure but he’s definitely an adult (1 year+) but he doesn’t have that old chameleon look either. He looks to be in relatively good health and he isn’t covered in scratches so he hasn’t been outside long. Perhaps he is somebody’s escaped pet.

Yea I'm guessing he escaped or someone just let him go. His tail is injured though, the local pet store said I could put neosporin on it to aid him in the healing process as long as it doesn't have any pain reliever in it but I noticed he doesn't curl his tail at all below the injury either

Can you post photos of the injury in the health section please? so we can take a look at it.

I just wanted to give a quick update, Spike is now bending his tail below the injury, not a full curl but definitely more than before:) He has also started to eat on his own and walk around a lot more!
