Yep, I've actually seen it described as a genetic defect... Not sure how much I would agree with it as a "defect" but I guess all variances in genetics are defects at some point .

So that is just like chameleons that show darker side facing the sun and lighter side facing away . I knew this thread should be on the forums .

I would agree that it would be like a lutino, not albino. I never saw one of these in cardinals . I just love nature. It keeps us on our toes.

@Decadancin actually the one I showed in this link I think is albino if the eye is red......because lutino refers to yellow coloration...

If the eye is dark then the white cardinal would be leucistic...
