To answer your question rainbow is just another made up name someone thought of to sell ambilobies like mafana, oorana mena, I even heard diamond in the past. So rainbow is an ambilobe that is all. As far as your chameleon I think it's a cross. Oh colorful by the way, being responsable with the color comment dont want to upset anyone.

True, the name is made up. My kids made named him like this....The shop keepers only spoke Chinese, so I couldn't ask them for his locale. Usually they don't treat the Chams too well in those shops, so I felt like rescuing him from that misery. But it left me with the uncertainty of his locale.

Rainbow is an Ambanja

The locale issue didn't leave me at peace (not that it does matter so much, but...). So when I passed by the shop today and finally got the manager who also speaks my language. He gave me all the breeder information and our Cham Rainbow is apparently a pure blood Ambanja. Didn't expect him to be so colorful though. Really need to catch him with a good camera as the pictures don't do him justice.

Those new pics of him are great. I would say he is Ambanja, the other pics were throwing me off hence thinking he could be a cross, but he looks all Ambanja in the new ones. Hes a very nice one too. What is his weight and length?

Thanks guys. We are very happy with him. We kept Veiled and Mt. Meru for years. But not Furcifer. This entire locale thing was a huge headache for me at first. That's why I accidentally called it species. Montane and others seem to have less to worry than furcifer.

Haven't weight or measured him yet. Should be a good opportunity to get out my electronic weighing machine.

Ok. One more bragging and then enough. He is toilet trained! He comes out of his cage every morning after the first feeding. Walks a few times over my hands while I bring him to the bathroom and he let's it finally drop into the bowl. Consistently performed for the past 1.5 weeks. Very weird.

I have created an album for Rainbow. Finally used my 'real' camera. He shows amazing coloration. And this was just after sunrise...

And here some pics of my all time darling: Greeny. I have never cried like this over a pet. My daughter and son who grew up with Greeny still cry sometimes when they think of him. Took them a while to Open their heart to Rainbow.
