what is this silkworm doing?

i've seperated it from the rest just in case it's gone into some silk worm self destruct sequence. It would be just my luck.

THey "shed their skin" like reptiles as they grow. Either that or it is going bad-hard to tell from that pic.

I think it's shedding because that back section is now collapsed and it looks like it's trying to get out of it.

How odd! I didn't realise that they shed! Did it leave an empty moult behind after? I have just finished a batch of silkworms and they grew quite large but I never saw any of them shed.
