weird behavior

hi, i was just cleaning Xanthus's cage, and the strangest thing happened. i was cleaning his crap off the floor, and i saw him start to run across the ficus like he was going after a cricket. so i just watched him, and he went to the floor, and then started climbing up the screen towards me then he changed to his "stressed colors" and was right in front of my face trying to climb out of the cage any feedback would be helpful

Hes trying to retreat from the unknown large "predator" thats in his territory for reasons he doesnt understand

He was stressed because you were cleaning his cage. This is normal, no chameleon is fond of someone sticking his hands in their cage and wiping stuff up, but it must be done.

He was climbing towards you because you were probably more conveniently higher than his cage.

How high is his cage?

his cage is about 6' off the ground, and im exactly 6'
