We made up our minds!

So after a lot of research we have decided on a pair of male oustelets. Sadly though flchams is sold out--I put us on the notify list, but curious if anyone knows about another reputable breeder of these? I'd like reference to a one because we want to buy healthy chams. Any references would be appreciated. If we have to wait till flchams is back in stock we will. We want a set of males to avoid egg laying. We can free range these together from what I read. I was hoping to find brothers. :) Our second choice is panthers.

Panthers are awesome too :)

They have similar care as oustalets.

I'm not sure about the 100% humidity, that sounds like BS to me, because people raise them with no difficulty just like they raise panthers...

???

I read it on the care sheet for them I was given. After reading it my husband and I came to the conclusion that we need a rainforest. :( we chose them based on life span, and they live longer, and I get terribly attached to our pets. But I also don't want to kill it if the 100% humidity claim is true.

Who gave you the caresheet?

100% humidity all the time would be a huge factor for getting URI and honestly, all chams need dry periods.

That seems like soooort of a shady site. Kind of like backwater reptiles.

Yeah do not listen to the 100% humidity. Having humidity that high all the time is worse.

Just stick with a panther caresheet

Try Reptile Pets Direct. They have some right now. I bought my sternfeldi from them, they arrived in awesome condition.

100% humidity is rain...:). I want an Oustie one day too and all of my research has said that the care is similar to a panther as StJimmy said. I have read that the main thing is space-they need a lot.

We are currently setting a free range in our living room. They will have a free range space of 12 feet long and 8 feet high, that extends about 4 feet from the wall. We are doing a draining table with live plants, fake vines, 2 mist kings and two basking/UVB spots. It will be in our living room. We want to build a faux wood box for the draining table to sit atop of to hide the buckets it will drain into. But it will be last. We are excited.

That sounds so cool! I can't wait to see it. Quick dumb question, by two mistkings you mean 2 nozzles and one system, right? Because you can run multiple nozzles with that system. :)

Crap I lied. The 100% humidity scares me. We will do panthers.

Total BS!!! More web junk info. Especially for Ousties...they don't live in rainforests. They live in the warmer spiny Malagasy forests. Their coloration is an adaptation to that type of habitat as compared to a high precipitation rainforest situation. Glad others set you on the right track.

Be aware that not all chams decide to tolerate each other. Hopefully, two of these mellower chams in a free range won't have issues. However if you have a male/female pair and the female isn't receptive she may resent the male or get harrassed.
