Vet Appointment for Sept. 15th, 2011.

So, as many of you recall, Delilah my 2 year old female Veiled Chameleon has gotten a growth on her face in between her eyes. It is on the right ridge and is now spreading over the ridge right under the eye.

I have finally found a vet that has actually taken in Chameleons and is very good with them. I had Darwin with me while I was making her appointment as my friend was making one for her new Ball Python (Olga).

Well, I thought that I should share the news to some that have followed along with my picture threads of her. She hasn't changed one bit and is eating like her piggish self, but she is my little girl. :3

I will keep you updated until after her appointment next Thursday and if anything changes.

I would like to get Kinyonga's (spelling?) opinion on this, since she has seen the growth and commented on a previous thread from ages ago. Will this affect her sight at all? it's spread right under her eye and I don't want anything horrible to happen. She is my darling female that acts like my dog. LOL

Thanks,
Zac

I know right! She needs to brush them, but they don't come in superworm flavor at Wal*Mart. ><

I hope she is alright too.

I just wanted to see how much its changed...but don't wake her up.

It will need to be cleaned out and a culture and sensitivity test done of the exudate so she can be put on an antibiotic to kill the bacteria. I hope it will be okay and hasn't spread through her system. She should be put out for this too BTW.

Okay, thanks so much. I was wondering what was going to have to happen in order for it to be removed.

It isn't much different as of now.

Thanks

Here is an up to date picture, my camera hates her and she hates it. So it's mutual.. LOL.

This is the best picture I got. I had to go to the park in order to get the best lighting and for it to show best.

Make sure that the vet does all of this. Poor Delilah. I hope that she gets better real soon.

fjdlsa So today after school I will be taking Delilah to the veterinarian. I am scared out of my mind right now as to what might happen with her. I will update the thread as soon as I get home from the vet. I will be bringing my camera to take pictures of what will be happening if the veterinarian allows me to do so and if anyone is interested in the process of it.

Thanks,
Zac

Fingers, toes and everything else crossed for Delilah.

Thanks so much Jann. She is my sweetest Chameleon that reminds me of a dog begging for attention. c: She has definitely stolen my heart. I hope so much that she is going to be okay.

So the vet visit went well.

She looked through her book of reptile diseases and treatments and is contacting a vet in Sioux Falls about an hour and a half away from me for answers to her questions. She hasn't dealt with Chameleon's personally, but she does know the general care for them which is okay.

I will be taking her back in for her surgery on the 26th of September.

This is what will be occurring during her surgery.

-Anesthesia, K9 S, first 30 min

-Gentamicin 100 mg/mL Inj.

-Miscellaneous Surgery

-SDSU Culture & Sensitivity

-SDSU Fungul Culture

Basically she will be putting her under and removing the growth on her face and then sending it to the state college to get it tested to see what caused it and then what we should do to treat it. etc.

If Kinyongia could check this thread and see if everything looks right, please comment.

Also her check up was for free today just because she didn't know too much about them. But she is contacting other vets and learning as much as possible in order to treat her correctly.

Zac, I ask my vet about this and he said most things looked in order. He did question the anesthesia and wondered if that meant 30 minutes in the chamber? He also said he would not recommend the Gentamicin that it could be very hard on the kidneys.

Just read the last couple of posts on this thread now. Don't know how I missed it on the 15th. Sorry. :(

How did it all go?
