Update on Kinyongia tavetana eggs

That's heart breaking.
I'm sorry to hear this, I was so looking forward to reading about your success with them.
Who knows ..... maybe ... ???
although, I would not want to get my hopes to high from the sound of things.

Yeah me too. :( Its a shame. As I always say, your potential losses now can be turned into positive education for somebody in the future. It all benefits our knowledge of the species in captivity,

What I do find odd is the fact that you've had to add SO much water during the incubation time. I'm assuming you have holes in your container?

Cheers,
Trace

Hey Trace. I have a small pin hole in the top of the container. Ive had to add water 2 times before this last. I dont remember exactly when the first time was. I would say sometime in the middle of when they where put in the container to the 2nd time I added(when I started the post). Imagine that. Maybe I started off too dry to begin with? After the second time I added water and they began to sweat prematurely I left the lid off the container and let it dry up some. Maybe too much. I left them in front of where I incubate my eggs so I could see them without having to move or disturb them. I figured they didnt need a good bump. Once I noticed them starting to dent I took them out and checked and it was really dry in there. Now here we are. I probably screwed them up myself:(

I'm really sorry to hear the latest news on these eggs. I had a friend in Oregon whom I've since lost touch with that hatched a clutch of these about 10 years ago. It's certainly not impossible and he said he had a great time raising all of them before finding new homes. I say keep an eye out for healthy imports and try again!
