If he fell and broke his neck I don't think he'd have gotten back up in the cage to where he is.... unless the injury didn't set in right away? kinda freaky.

If it is like humans, when a trauma occurs, it is possible to aggravate it later by moving in an unproper way. This is why, in case of a car accident, the victims usually have their neck still and are sent to the hospital for a check up. If you guys were french i'd explain it more but i really don't know how to say it in english, sorry! Nevertheless, this hypothesis is very unlikely.

Also, if his neck is broken, i'm sorry but WHAT THE HELL may have caused it?!? I can't think of any way seriously, unless some other pet was the reason...

Well....on the color change thing, I have to say no....from my sad experience, they tend to have very peaceful happy colors when they die...maybe that's good? Maybe it means that at that moment, they are happy and peaceful?

Unfortunately no...they have just lost nervous control of color change. The few chams I've lost either turned completely dark at death or turned their paler calm color (I think its like a "default" setting).

I've seen completely limp chams hanging from a branch like that when dying even though their grip was firm (it's involuntary so they don't have to think about it when they sleep), but if this poor thing has rigid muscle tone I have no idea. Some total body tetany? I don't see how he could have broken his neck or damaged the spinal cord without a serious fall from a major height (from a big tree not the typical cage).

Elizadolots is right, some do stay their peaceful green colors. just because your turned brown doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Molly never changed colors when she died, she stayed green, blue, and yellow. And even right now if I took her out of the freezer and took a picture she would still be those same colors.

 Just goes to show that they aren't that concerned or don't want to hear the truth. This really hacks me off!

That picture is disturbing... I've caught my cham sleeping in some weirdo positions before but I've never seen one with its neck like that. I'm having a hard time believing it's alive in that picture.

Have a heart! The chameleon is probably dead. Wasn't the photo pretty obvious about the poor animal's condition? I know it was to me. I keep hoping I'm wrong but the lack of an update is confirming it for me. The OP owes us nothing but I would imagine he may report back once he has a chance to deal with what has happened.

maybe he went to the vet and just is to busy dealing with the situation at hand just a suggestion but who knows:confused: just hope the cham is ok and hoping for the best

This morning I turned the lights on in the chameleon room and found one of my males unresponsive with his head cocked to one side. He has been feeding well on crickets and superworms and has shown no signs of problems untill today. Nothing seems out of the ordinary with the other animals. HE is 2yrs old, housed in an 18 x36 inclosure with uv and heat lamps on 12hrs per day. He is alive but has not moved since this morning. Any thoughts?

Sorry, but he posted this at 8:15 pm yesterday and asked for help. He was asked several questions and never filled out the "how to ask for help" questions. To me this is just irresponsible and not actually here for help. These are the type of post that get to me.

Maybe he no longer needed our help because he

a. Went to a vet

b. His chameleon was dead.

I think both of you are right, Draetish and Lizardlover...

At the end, if he went to the vet or if his chameleon died, a follow-up would have been great.

Now, many things may explain it and it's not like he will never give us some news, so i guess we have to be patient! :)

yeah ,i understand why you would be frustrated, i didnt realized when he had posted the thread ,until i took a second look, it would be nice for some kind of update, but also got to realize if you just lost ur pet to something tragic your gonna need time to grieve:( if that actually is the case

This forum is for sharing and learning and we would all be sympathetic if the cham was indeed deceased. I apologize for going off, but it really irritates me when people ask for help and then disappear.

If the chameleon died, he's probably upset (I would be) and if the chameleon didn't die, he may be extremely busy with lizard care. I'd rather he take care of himself and his chameleon than come here to satisfy our curiosity. Hopefully, when he gets a chance, he will come back.

Maybe he forgot to subscribe to the thread. when i first got on the forum, it took me a while to figure out how to subscribe.

if i had a cham die, then i probably wouldnt want to talk about it right away either, especially if i suspected my husbandry was at issue. for many people the death of a cham signals a turning point where they have to decide whether they really want to be a cham keeper or not
