Panther Cham not shedding possibly

My panther cham seems to be having trouble shedding his skin. He’s very dull in color and at night when he turns normally bright yellow there’s spots that stay dark. Also his head you can see it’s on the verge of shedding but not getting there. He also has some yellow spots that seem to stay. It’s not always in that spot but will be stuck during the day in some spots once he turns green in the morning from yellow. The one spot on his side is what concerns me most bc it looks almost like a scab and it’s the spot that always stays dark when the rest of him is bright yellow at night. (I will try to get a pic of this tonight.)

Also his eating has changed a bit. He’s been picky as it is to begin with but his favorite bugs were grasshoppers and silkworms. He’s now lost interest it seems in the grasshoppers (now that I have a giant colony of them lmao)

I took some pics but it’s hard to really capture what I’m seeing in person.

Wondering is this just a shedding issue and is there something I could use to help him shed like a skin conditioner maybe?

For reference he gets misted 3x a day from a mistking and has a humidifier running all night each night. For humidity purposes. Nothings changed husbandry wise recently and he actually used to get misted less before I put everything on timers.

You said…”The one spot on his side is what concerns me most bc it looks almost like a scab and it’s the spot that always stays dark when the rest of him is bright yellow at night”…that’s the one thing I was looking at as well.

Anybody else thinking fungus here? Don’t know much about them, but I agree it doesn’t look like shed.
Yeah I’m thinking he has to go to the vet. I mean He hasn’t shed in a very long time plus the skin starting to peel on his head and his colors are just acting funny and his entire body is dull colored during the day. That one spot something is up though bc it doesn’t turn bright it’s very odd.

So something is most definitely going on. I can't tell if that side spot could be a thermal burn. But the weird coloration in places is very odd. Could be fungal as well. I would get him in with a really good reptile vet and see if they can test the areas.

Would a fungal infection affect his entire body though? I could see it on that one spot sure but like I said his entire body is just very dull during the day where he’s normally bright as you can see in my profile pic. At night he’s nice and bright yellow and reds then some of the yellows stay once he’s awake where normally it would be green. Very weird stuff. Ima definitely take him to vet

I do not have an in depth understanding of fungal... I believe at one point when I was learning about it that it can spread to multiple places though. Again not an area I am well versed in though.

You can see how bright he is at night here. During the day his colors are I’d say about 60-70% their usual brightness

Right but they naturally go very light at night when they shut down to sleep.
I know but I’m showing how whatever is going on doesn’t affect him at night. Except for that one spot on his side.

And he has spots all over of skin peeling slightly yet hasn’t shed in months.

I dunno you will see this with burns too though. Where you can not see the extent of what is there unless they are awake. Maybe it has something to do with how they shut down at night, I dunno.

Oh interesting didn’t know that about burns. So it’s even weirder that the one spot stays dark at night on him. The pic I posted was the opposite side so it can’t be seen.

Well I did learn that when they shut down at night their internal temp goes up about two degrees now that affects their color. I think he is dull during the day because he isn’t feeling right. You got to get him to a vet. Also fungal infections aren’t just external they are internal too.

Yeah I’m gonna call tm for sure

Btw, any skin issue once treated will usually take a very long time to heal. Just be patient once treatment is done and if he loses the color it will eventually return. You just have to be patient. They heal differently then we do. It’s actually miraculous. Best of luck to you both. This is a spreader so I would make an appointment right away. Of the vet gives you just a topical cream ask the vet if an additional internal med is needed to ward off secondary infections. Never hurts to ask to make sure u are covered!

Ok thank you and the vet I recently found seems really good. He had a respiratory infection over the summer and my original vet gave just oral meds didn’t work and they wanted all this money to see him again. I found a new vet and she gave me a 6 week course of injections for him that worked and did a recheck for next to nothing so she seems trustworthy. Plus everyone at the office loves seeing him and he makes rounds through the office so everyone can look at him lol
