Tong feeding

I'm so happy and excited! I finnaly got melon to start tong feeding. I have been trying a couple times a week for the past month and a half to get her to take worms out of my hand or from tongs. Or just not run away every time I look at her or open her cage. On Monday I tried again to tong feed her. At first she got all mad an hissed and got all spotty. So I put the worm on a leaf above her and she grabbed it right away. She then turned back to her bright green and came up to the top of her cage and looked at me. I was so surprised because she usually wants nothing to do with me. So I grabbed another worm in the tongs and put it near her and she grabbed it right away. I just tried again and she got mad for a second then seen the worm and grabbed it. This is a huge step forward.

Hey glad to hear, but I wouldn't use tongs. Chams easily get their tongues stuck and hurt themselves. I was lucky mine didn't but I had a huge scare with them. Haven't used since

A good thing that worked for me was feeding my guy a hornworm (it's like crack for them) and the next time putting one in my hand and not making eye contact and just waiting for a long time staying still. He ate it then and now associates me with food, and will eat from me regularly. While it's great she's feeding from tongs, hand feeding is much more rewarding in the relationship, you just have to be so incredibly patient.
