Congratulations! Hooray--you finally got her! And she is lovely. I would name mine PIP (Pretty in Pink) if I was lucky enough to get a little girl Panther. Can't wait to hear what you finally christen her with. And look forward to hearing about her as she grows up.

So far the girls have suggested Pinky and Medusa... Hubbles has decided we can't use a name that sounds odd in an American accent, so Myrtle is out, but he may tolerate Ivy. I love old lady names. We still haven't fully committed to Tabitha for our ball python, so far the only thing sticking is Snakey, which will definitely not do...

I chose Tabitha because I adore Bewitched, and Hubbles wouldn't let me call either of the girls Tabitha because it's a cat's name, apparently.

Congratulations with your pretty litle girl. I just love some of the colors the colors the females show of when they matures. So many different colors, but all of them so soft, if you know what i mean.

She's more interested in hiding than basking this morning, can I leave her to it or should I move her a bit nearer the basking spot? It's just a vine at an angle to the basking lamp, but it's above the plants so might be a bit exposed. I think if she went in the pothos she could bask and feel a bit more hidden, but she's hiding under everything in the schefflera at the moment, below the pothos planter, at the end of a branch and just peering at me. She's brown, but I'm hoping that's more to do with her trying to soak up what little light gets down there than being stressed too much.

She has to settle in and make her now home her world. Just give her a bit of time. Don't move her or force her. She will be fine, but moving her around and bothering her now could make winning her trust much harder. She may not even want to see you for a few days, that is ok, she will come out in her time frame. make sure she has all the right stuff, and let her be. I know it is hard when you want to sit and watch her, but do this for her.

She was hatched out on my birthday!!! Beautiful little lady you have there, dont worry about her being a bit small, she will catch up one day! Ive heard a rumour that the more pure they are, the smaller they are when young....

Thank you for the reassurances! I feel like I've found a newborn baby on my doorstep and have no idea what to do. Despite spending months on the forum!!!

She did find her way up to the top, she's now clinging upside-down and mooching about up there. I've put some small dubia dusted with calcium+ in her feeding dish, in the same place as she used it yesterday, and they are scrabbling about in an attention-grabbing manner, so I'm hoping she'll warm up and feel like nomming a few again soon.

She also left me a present! A nice healthy-looking poo right at the edge of the enclosure where I sit, on a leaf, at eye-level. Urates look small, but white. She likes the mister already, went running over to it this morning and started squidging her eyes at it, licking her lips and shooting at water drops, which I'm hoping is a good sign!

Definitely happy to leave her to it for a while!

A mister query, I'm currently running it for 2 minutes every 2 hours, starting at 7.10am, figuring it would be better to wake her up with lights at 7am than a cold shower! Then last misting is at 5pm to give the enclosure time to dry out before lights off at 7pm. I'm wondering if this is enough? She ran over to it this morning at 11am, but was only just getting into it when it switched off, so I put it on manually for another couple of minutes so she could finish up. I looked at a few threads and guidance about it, the general consensus seemed to be that regular shorter mistings than longer breaks between longer misting.

Oh he fell in love by the time I finished saying 'I've bought an enclosure and a chameleon to go in it.', he's very soft-hearted...

Still not sure on a name, but he prefers Ivy to Myrtle. I'm also tempted by Prudence.

I hand-fed her two crickets today! Held them by the back legs and she whipped them from my fingers!

I am lights on at 7am, 1st misting at 730a for 10minutes, a 5minute mist at 1pm, and wrap up with a 5minute mist at 5pm with lights out at 7pm. The big misting in the morning gives them time to get some basking in and then soak everything down real good. I do my mistings for 5minutes each so they have time to get moving and get to the water, so they dont get there and it stops on them. I tried to do more frequent and shorter periods but this seems to work better along with the dripper in use for us.

I havea dripper set up too, that she likes. Think I'll try out your routine for a few days! How is it for drainage and water used?

Do you have a drainage tray to go under your cage? Lots of people have a cabinet or table for the water to drain into the bucket. Since my chams don't seen to care about looks, I have a 5 gallon bucket under the drain in each cage - matching buckets of course.

I need to make a hole for drainage, I wanted to see how the setup worked before I started drilling. Initially I thought I'd cut a hole in the plastic liner at the bottom, in one corner, but the water is just pooling around the base of the schefflera pot, so I'm thinking it would make more sense to drill a hole through the plastic baseboard just off-centre and put a bucket under it. What do you think?
