Suburban Chameleon

Our daily walks have gone from shrubbery, grasses, trees, and bushes to sidewalks. Seems he has discovered he can get where he's going much faster if he just follows the sidewalk. But I don't believe there's a female chameleon within 25 miles. . . and he's not THAT fast.

Haha! He's a Cham on the run! Aren't you worried about birds or other animals getting at him?

Well, despite what it looks like, I'm always on guard about three feet right behind him.

Much to his delight, I might add.

That's a great shot. I have read that people find their lost chameleons in the road allot and that in Africa and Madagascar allot of chams get squished in the road so less hope he doesn't take to the streets next. :)

Oh, he's tried. But I do all the street walking. Err. Street crossing.

Run dude! I love that look on their faces when they look back at you, convinced that this time they've got away.... then you scoop them up and shatter their dreams. My tortoises do that too.

too scary for me!!!!!!
i'd be to fearful of a rogue cat racing across and grabbing him!!!! i had that happen to a hamster once, when i was a child, it still haunts me to this day!!!!! the squealing!!!!!!!! :(
where's my therapist number???? ;)

Therapy? How about therapy for my guilt if I don't let him out? These daily walks came into being because he started going to the back door and began scratching at the glass to get out! Now he goes to the regular front door and does the same thing. That's where he discovered the sidewalks!

So it's either therapy for guilt or fear . . .there's no winning with chameleons.

No, his dream isn't actually shattered until we are back in the house and I shut the door. When I scoop him up - that's when he struggles to maintain his dream. It's pretty much a wrestling match until we're in the house with the door shut. Until then he's twisting, climbing on my head, over my back, leaping off my arm, etc. When the door shuts, he stops and just gives me the stink-eye - and curses me out in chameleon. Then, and only then, his dream is shattered. So sad, really.
