sterilzing natural vines?

i have a huge weed tree in my neighbors yard and the "vines" or "weeds" are like branches, can i cut them down and sterilize them in the oven the same as branches?

anyone know if these are safe, if so, how to sterilize?

yeah that sounds good i don't really bake them cus i don't get them from trees outside. but give it a try

I think you soak it in a bleach water solution over night or im not sure how many hours.
then you scrub scrub scrub scrub
and then you rinse rinse rinse rinse then you bake it

I have never bleached or baked a branch in 3 years. They get hosed down, let dry in the sun for and hour and put in the cage. I have never had a problem but its personal choice though....bleaching and then baking a branch would stink up the whole house and is over kill.

My only concern would be if the plant was toxic and was releasing any sap that may be harmful.

I'm baking at 250 for 45 mins just to be sure and dry it out.

I had a WC Jackson (which runaway), I wanted to re-use the branches, but was afraid that my new cham will get parasites. So I replaces the plant and bleached the branches for 3 days and then air dried for 2.

i ended up baking at 250 for 45 minutes and they turned out great, nice and brown/dry. in fact they are already in the cage and dr dre loves them, he was doing circles in the cage on them lol

thats funny because they are growing right next to my pool too. i was always cutting it down and it would grow back at alarming rates.... now i found a use for it! unlimited branches

Branch bleaching and baking is not necessary IMHO, but if you want to do it, have a ball.

You might want to stay by the oven, there have been flaming branches served at many a reptiles keepers homes........

Even if you have a lot of arboreal reptiles in your area, a quick scrub will likely take care of any potential problems. Baking is kind of cuckoo...
