Hey guys,

Ive had my year old yemen chameleon yoshi for about three weeks now> im slightly concerned hes going to sleep about 4-5 pm, is this normal? i know we are in winter months now and its getting dark around then but does this matter?? i have a dripper system and he gets sprayed twice a day and hes feeding and drinking fine just sleeps around this time.

I cant seem to find any infomation about what to do if there is something wrong hopefully someone out there can help me with my problem:):):)

cheers James

Sometimes if they can see out into the world through a window they go to sleep when the sun goes down. Most people recoment to turn on the lights when the sun comes up and when it goes down, or around those times so its more natural.

It really gets dark that quick there?

However, if you think it is something else, you can fill this out and some one can try to help you.

Cage Info:

* Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
* Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
* Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
* Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
* Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
* Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
* Location - Where are you geographically located?

Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
* Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
* Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
* Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
* Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
* Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
* History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
* Current Problem - The current problem that you are concerned about.

what time does he wake up? Is it a twelve hour cycle?

yeah he tends to go to bed at 4-5pm and hes awake when i am at 8am so ive no idea what time he gets up to be honest. Yeah it gets dark here at 5pm now which is kinda depressing. so would you say my yoshi is ok?? i mean he dont have sunken eyes or anything like that and seems fine just sleeps early

My chameleon will go to sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time regardless when his lights turn on and off. Maybe its just a seasonal thing as you mentioned since everything else seems ok but i would fill out that info sheet just the same.

Chams sense the light and when it gets dark enough they go to sleep. Sure, there are variations in the time each cham goes to sleep.
I'm not sure where you live, but winter is approaching in the northern hemisphere and the days are getting shorter. Chams will go to sleep earlier. Even if the lights are on the age, depending on the location of the setup, they can sense the the natural light is getting weaker.
If your cham is eating, drinking and not sleeping during the day, you shouldn't have any problems.
