I am currently breeding my own silkworms, and have done so for a couple of generations. I have done my own growth statistics and find it very facinating.
Does anyone else do their own breeding, and have some stats to compare?

I generally get them to about 3inches and around 6grams before they start to spin.
Normal groth rate is 30-34 days from hatching to spinning.

Below is a little fellow that reached 6,3grams and 3,25inches.

What kind of food do you use, and if you use chow, how do you prepare it?
I use chow that I cook myself and serve 1-4 times a day, depending on the size of the worms. The temperature is also important on the development, I never go below 80 Fahrenheit. Ofcourse there is something called genes that one can not master above, I use a European line of silkworms and is very please with that.

i bought mulberry chow cooked it myself and served it wen ever there was no more

Showed my veil a pic of the worm on the scale and he tried getting him!!
