eggs appeared round she is on calcium twice a day right now she is still in thcrossing my fingers I wish i had not looked.e sand and has her tail buried and now I am just

Not bure but her rear was buried. Got out around 5 so I misted her , gave meds and water. She looked at the crickets for a while but did not eat them. She climbed back down later and it is after midnight did a check and she is in the sand box. She has never slept in the bottom before always high up. I am hoping this is a good sign but will not know until tomorrow.

Give her as much privacy as possible.
If she sees you while digging, she will stop her laying process.

The longer those eggs stays within her bodies, the more chance she will be in a critical condition.

So, even if you want to check, do not make her aware of your presence.
When she finished laying, you will see a very noticeable change of her tummy.
Then, be prepared to give her as much water she wants and also prepared her food.

she spent the night in the sand but came out this morning i gave her her calciun and she drank two syringes of water now is clinbing around some but I put up the barrier and am ignoring her to see what she will do today. Still does not look like she has laid the eggs and there is no bulge in the back. Her condition seems to remain the same somewaht alert and clinbing around maybe the calcium and water along with warm misting is helping. Her eyes are alert and moving so am still hoping for the best.

still not laying eggs has been a week

still has not layed eggs. I give her calcium and water but she is still not eating. I guess she has egg binding so now I wonder how long she will survive so i can be prepared to lose her.

Has been a week since I took her to the vet. Has not eaten in two weeks, Give her calcium twice a day and she takes water from a syringe. Have nest site and we ignore her so how long can she survive on calcium and fluids. I need to prepare to lose her. She does not fall and climbs ok Pictres are on my last thread sick vieled/

Why won't you take her to a vet and see if oxytocin works...and if that doesn't work have her spayed? Why are you just going to let her die?

vet wants to see her on Friday but did not mention oxy just talked about surjury. He seems to want mother nature take its course I will call in the morning to ask about the oxy and see what he says. Thanks for the info I do not want to lose her but last week the vet said she was in bad shape and scared me.

If the chameleon is past the point of being able to lay the eggs, "letting nature take its course" will most likely be eggbinding and death. I can't tell you when she has passed that point because I'm not a vet.

BTW..."round" is usually follicles and "oval" is usually eggs. Chameleons can get "stuck" in the follicular stage (follicular stasis) and the follicles won't ovulate (move into the egg stage). The only solution I know of if this happens is spaying...I don't think oxytocin is an option.

If the eggs have formed but are not being laid for some reason, if caught in time oxytocin may help...but if not spaying is likely the only option. One problem with this is that if there is a physical reason (fused eggs, eggs that are too large, reproductive malformations, etc.) for her not being able to lay the eggs, then oxytocin might make matters worse...and spaying would be the best option. Remember....I'm not a vet...I'm just telling you what I have read, been told, etc.

Sick veiled

After the 23rd I talked to the vet he said she was too weak and would die so I went on a campaign to save her. I froze and ground up crickets fed her each night and gave her water, calcium and vitAMINS. oN THE 27th she layed three eggs during the night, none during the day. On the 28th she layed a large clutch of eggs and this morning there were more eggs. I did not know she needed dark or I would have kept the room dark. I fed her every morning and night even today and she seems to be coming along. I just did not want to watch her starve so I fed her and prayed so here we are and maybe now she will survive. Thanks foe everyones advice.

She finally laid all the eggs with me giving her fluids and some ground crickets to keep her alive. How long before she will feel up to eating crickets on her own? Should I give her the ground crickets for a couple of days. She accepts water from a syringe readily and drank lots tonight. In the morning I want to try her on crickets and if she does not eat give her the ground up ones in her syringe. What do you advise?

If she will not eat on her own I would still force feed for awhile.
