Shedding question

I have been assuming that Simone was about a year old (one person at the pet store I got her at said they were pretty sure she was the one they sold the guy who bought her in about a year before) I got her in August/Sept & she had been there 3 months.
so I guess she would have been last march 2010???

geez...

anyway...last night I got home & had a moment of panic, then realized she was shedding.

How often do they shed & what can I do to make this process easier on her?

Upload a photo of her. You'd be surprised how full of crap stores can be when it comes to chameleons. She might be a lot younger, and she might not be a she. Is her whole body shedding? If so, chances are she's younger. If she is a she, you will need to have a laying bin out for her. Chameleons can create eggs without even mating. If they do not have a laying bin, they will become eggbound. I am going to attach a wonderful blog that Jannb wrote about egg laying.

Babies can shed every month.
Juvies can shed every month to every other month.
adults every other month to every 3.
Babies and younger Juvies can do full body sheds.
Older Juvies and adults normally do a body part at a time.
To help, up her mistings and humidity level.
If any shed appears stuck,do not remove, place her in a warm shower for 10 or 15 minutes.

Since u have an adult female, do u have a laying bin for her?

Don't worry Pilot and Camimom, Boondy knows they have a female! She laid eggs a few weeks ago, if I remember correctly.

It depends on how old they are and how much they're growing. They will also shed a specific body part if they got cut or otherwise injured. The older chameleons get the less they will shed, my adult males shed maybe once every 3-4 months now, just about. And sometimes they will shed in parts but mine still do a fairly universal shed, it just takes them 2-3 days to finish it instead of a couple hours.

She should be able to do it well on her own if the humidity in the cage is good. But an extra misting or two cannot hurt! Usually we up the misting a little when they're shedding.

shedding

Well, Simone seems to be almost done shedding. her head & front 1/2 of her body & legs. She got real frustrated when it hung over her eyes & was not happy. she angrily rubbed it off on the branch, then looked around for the cricket. Then she tried to go after it & stepped on a piece hanging off her leg... like stepping on your own shoelace... grrrrr

I tried not to snicker...
