Roaming free in the UK

if in the uk is it ok to let my cham have free roam in a plant (umberella plant)in the corner of the room?
would i have to point a lamp towards it as a basking point or is he better off in his cage?

If the temperature in your house isn't around the same as it's cage, then yes. If you plan to permenently free range him, then you will have to do everything you do with a cage. Lights and everything. Also remember that although they are in a plant, that plant has to be up high. It's usually better to use a tree of some sort like a ficus unless you have a huge umbrella plant.
