RO water?

searched and found suprisingly little on here about it. i know alot of folk have a RO system to power auto misters - but what about drinking water? RO water not having any minerals that normal water would have in trace amounts makes it actually sap minerals out of the body... i would think there is a similair effect for chams since hydroponics folk will tell ya RO water is generally not for consumption. do you add rep supplements to the RO water or what?

I think the only real advantage to using RO water would be the fact that you will not get calicum buildup in your nozzles or on the plants. As far as not having any minerals, you are correct. I have heard may people use it successfully with herps, however. I think that chams also get alot of water from the food items we feed. Consider that and the fact that we supplement the food, they might get everything they need there and the water may not be a big deal at all.

However, I just use aged tap water and have never had a problem. I test it with a good pool test kit (Chlorine, hardness, ph and alkalinity) and let it sit for several days.

I use water from the tap and age it about ...ohhh...15 seconds.
Keep in mind we have very good water here....might not be a good idea in Detroit. I have never had a problem.
I think it's important for the water to have minerals in it. I would not use RO or distilled water for drinking (ie: to fill the dripper).

what about for a system like the promist that suggests using ro water? do people just ignore that and clean more often? use a seperate dripper for drinking? just tryin to wrap my head around potential future setups :)
