Repti-Sun CFL: Old vs. New

Can someone go back to the beginning to explain why you are talking about old vs new? And, which one is better?
Thanks.

Several years ago, around 2006/2007 there were some CFLs that were found to be responsible for eye issues.

The old bulbs produced UVC and non terrestrial UVB which blinded and killed many lizards. The new bulbs have been changed to produce the proper UVB.

Howdy Eric,

Just when we thought we had this "old vs. new" situation under control, I had a chat with one of the ZooMed people about these CFLs, only to find out that they recently used-up a bunch of the old instruction sheets in new boxes :(. Not a wise move on their part :(. I guess they didn't understand the ramifications of this move since this was part of the way the public could identify the difference between the two. The do now. I don't know for sure if they changed back to the proper instructions sheets again.

one more reason i will NEVER use cfl's..they are good for growing small plants...i will stick to the tried and true linears, or self ballasted for large free rangers..

good info tho..nice to know they are trying...
