haha. I love it when pet stores make up their own names for chameleons. There is no such thing as a pygmy fischers chameleon, if you post a picture of the chameleon we may be able to ID it and tell you what it really is. You need to be careful with chameleons from pet stores however because they are almost guaranteed wild caught and parasites can pose a big problem from them in captivity.

looks like a two horned but really small i figured it could be a sub species of some sort but im not really sure on different species other than the major ones:rolleyes:

That doesn't help too much. That narrows it down to about, oh ~20 species. Although I would guess K. tavetana or K. multituberculata

Like i said i dont know much about most species but thats what i remember seeing today. If that is K. tavetana or K. multituberculata would $60 be a good price for it.

I would not recommend you buying WC anything at the moment. Its really more suited towards experienced keepers, and WC animals have different needs than CB.

Paired with the fact that the petstore probably does not know how to take care of it properly, the animal is likely to die ( in all honesty ) either in the pet store or in your hands when you purchase it - either from pet store abuse, or you not being able to keep up with its needs.

save your $60 and look for either a CB animal, or a WC imported by people who actually know how to take good care of them - such as FL chams and other site sponsors that deal with WCs.

Those people are more likely to help you through the process of taking care of a WC and getting it acclimated to its new home, rather than the petstore which is just there to make the sale.

I do agree with you about not buying this cham due to inexperience but i would have to disagree with you about this particular pet store just trying to make a buck. They are very caring or their reptiles and i don't think even if i were to try to buy that cham from them that they would even sell it to me. In fact i know some people here who sold some baby veileds to them not to long ago (a senior member at that). I don't think they would have sold them the babies if they thought that this pet store wouldn't take care of them.

I bought my first chameleon, a F. cephalolepis from PetSmart. It was a learning experience. With Chameleon Forums here and if you're willing to deal with possible parasite issues and are willing to take advice from experienced keepers, then why not? Unless you're known to be a problem keeper and aren't willing to take advice or think you know all you need to know, I don't see why not. ;)

If it is a WC K. tavetana (which is what I suspect it is also), the price is about $20 too high ;)

LMAO!!! Dirty little tavetanas get no respect!!!:p

Honestly, if you do like the species and if it is Kinyongia tavetana (dwarf fischers) you could just wait another month or two. I will have some captive hatched males ready to go soon. They are an awesome species but not as forgiving to husbandry errors as veileds or panthers.
