Pruning umbrella plant

The umbrella plant that i got is way to big for my cage it looked like it would fit at the time but its actually taller than my 4 foot cage my only choice is to do a mega pruning or use it as an out of cage plant what should i do? Is it alright to cut off a large amount of the plant to make it fit?

I cut more than half of an umbrella plant out and its doing fine... I keep trimming it because its trying to fill back in.
