is this similar to a polka dot plant?

I'm not too familiar with polka dot plants, but I believe they share some same characteristics. The fittonia thrive in high humidity, and mine seem to bush up more than spread out. They're super easy to propagate and come in so many different colors! There was a whole bunch at the lowes near me!

I wanted to put these in my carpet enclosure but I opted for the polka dot because I was nervous she would be afraid of the red color lol. Those are beautiful plants.

I understand how that could stress her out. Sherbert HATED the wondering jew I had for him, and all things purple lol. This is my first super bright red one. I also have a plain green, with light green veins, and a lighter red one.

I love these and am always buying them, even though they just don’t do well for me. Bart currently has a pink one that has surprisingly survived.

Does this look like a good deal? I have not bought from Burpee online before, but I did get three creeping fig a couple weeks ago from somewhere on amazon and they are doing really well. I just don't have much like finding plants in the store when I'm looking for them!!!!!

I haven’t had very much luck buying online. They either come super stressed, way smaller than shown, or full with gnats. You might have better luck finding them at box stores (the wall-mart near me had some as well) and they’re sometimes at petco.

I’ve had good experiences buying plants from black jungle, neherp, and California carnivores. For larger stuff, I got a morninga tree that did well from somewhere online. Can’t remember where maybe toptropicals(have heard mixed reviews, but I had no complaints personally).

Locally from Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco, etc is probably the cheapest bet, but they usually* don’t have anything that rare. IME they do carry pretty nice stuff though. I love some of our nurseries and they can have unique stuff as well, but it’s usually at top dollar. Another good option is Facebook/local trades and such.

we have a local greenhouse/nursery that's only open in the spring. I have always gotten polka dot plants there for my outdoor flower pots, so I will check and see what they have in the next month or so. I don't live near Lowe's and Hime Depot's plants were a little pricey plus they did not look nice. I found 2 maiden hair ferns at Walmart which kinda shocked me.. and they are doing nicely. I keep them on the bottom in filtered light. I probably actually have enough plants in there, they just need time to grow. I've only had my enclosure built since Sunday.

Most supermarkets sell some of the more attractive plants, but of course you’ll be overpaying for them. Keep checking Walmart as their stock often varies and every now and then I’ll find an unusual beauty from them. My main source is Lowe’s and the one near me always has a few racks of houseplants inside the store.

I got a money tree at the grocery store for $14. I wasn't sure if it was a good price, but I knew it was on the list so I got it!
