Was a success. He isn't so bitey and barky anymore. :p

I got this guy at the show this weekend. Tomorrow I'll probably put a video up. He always seems to be dark!

Sorry for the bad quality, can't be bothered to set up my light box after disassembling it a few weeks ago. Durr..

Oh, and hi again.

Awesome looking Tokay. Some are darker than others but with the proper care he just might brighten up a bit. (not saying he wasn't properly taken care of). They really enjoy mashed fruit like banana or peach, mine do. :) Thank you for sharing!

Well, he is wild caught, so I can't imagine what the previous care was like.
Fortunately he isn't too skinny and doesn't have any wounds other than a regenerated tail halfway down and a scar on his lower jaw.

He is going to be spoiled.

Aw, how cute. My girls are MEAN especially my larger female, she will go out of her way just to try and bite, lol! In that case, try feeding him a pinkie every 2 weeks for a month and it should help him fatten up a bit. With the calcium in the pinkies bones, he'll get a good share of that. Also, if you dusk his crickets or feeders every 3rd feeding it will do him lots of good. :) Sorry, I don't know your experience with Tokay's and stop me if you know what your doing, Lol!:D

Pinkies don't have calcium, but vitamin A I believe.

I have a juvie tokay and another rescue and one other that passed away (he was old..). I've been keeping them a while but not 10 years or anything like that. ;)

The concept that pinkies have lots of calcium is pretty well outdated. A pinky mouse is basically Crisco in a pink skin. The tiny amounts of calcium from their tiny bones is almost useless compared to the HUGE amount of fat the gecko would ingest. A pinky as a treat now and then is harmless but it is foolish to make them even a semi regular part of an insectivores diet.

Better to fatten up an underweight gecko with Wax and butterworms.

No worries! I haven't had my Tokays for years either... :) Out of my 25 pets they are by far my favorite.

Here are my girls, can you tell which is the evil one? :p

Hey Gecko Whisperer, just counted looks like you still have all five digits on that hand :p;)

Oh and Derp Derp right back at you

Herp a derp derp!

Yup all are accounted for, and the only reason I have a bandaid is because my finger likes to get stabbed by random staples protruding from things.

Welcome back :)
I still don't get what it is you do with Tokays (ie, you have all your fingers), but keep on doing!

Really the only thing you have to do is let them do what they want to do. Once they realize you are not a threat, things are easy from there on out.

If you grab them out of their cage they will already be defensive and pissy. The second you grab them behind the head to prevent them from biting, you might as well put them back in the cage and wait a few hours before trying again. I've noticed 99% of the time someone who has a really angry tokay takes them out of the cage by yanking them out and grabbing them behind the head. It's stressful for them.

I should make a short how-to on it, but some of it is hard to explain. :p
