Pro Exotics Burning

They were able to find 8 snakes alive out of an inventory of thousands.
Truly awful. Id hoped it would be better. Id hoped some eggs were perhaps saved by incubators or that they had at least some favourites at home/elsewhere.

Insurance, if they had it, cannot cover this kind of loss. Irreplaceable lives are gone. The emotional tramma isnt going to be small.

I hope this at least serves some good to anyone else with a large animal business - a reminder to have sprinkler systems, monitored alarm systems, ...

This is such a shame and can happen to anyone!!

One thing I suggest is opening up your basking and tube light fixtures and checking connections at least once a year if not more. Any old, heat stricken wires should be cut and rewired. Ive had one of each short out. Both times I was at home. No fires or starts but I could smell the electronics and quickly ran to the lights. A few minutes of your time for each light is much better than a huge fire.

My thoughts go out to Pro Exotics and I hope their operation gets back up and running as smoothly as it can after something like this:(

Is there anything we can do to help them? I still feel so bad for them. I wish there was something we could do, even if it's just mail them letters of support.

Sorry couldnt firgure out how to link it but Chad Brown of Pro Exotics did a live interview with Herp nation on youtube. He said the fire started with a faulty electrical strip or heating element. Seems that 8 snakes had survived so far. He said that 6-7 bp morphs are lost. And some other morphs of other species are gone also. He was the only breeder with these. He basically stated 20yrs of breeding and work is gone in one night.

Doesnt get much worse than that.
Breeding for that long, there must be some customers with offspring from ProExotics efforts. I hope some of those customers can be persuaded to sell back some eggs.
