Preventing temporal gland infections?

Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done to prevent temporal gland infections in jackson's? I've had to take my guy to the vet three or four times in the past two years for temporal gland infections. I hate putting him through all that, not to mention stressing him with his meds every day afterwards. Is there any way to keep them happening in the first place?

Periodically, I will use a qtip to clean the junk out of the corners of my Jackson's mouth. He hates it, but that's what he gets for being a sloppy eater. I suspect that is probably a contributing factor to TG infections.

I've dealt with a temporal gland infection once last June. None since then (fingers crossed).

I read somewhere (on here probably) that feeding feeders that are slightly smaller so that they fit entirely in the mouth whilst eating. Sometimes if wings or legs get stuck in the corner of the mouth they can cause problems.

You might have something here. I have never had a Jackson's with temporal infection or and mouth infection. I feed mostly crickets, flies and worms. I don't feed my Jackson's roaches and I feel like they are too hard to chew for them. Imo.

My Jax is currently fighting some kind of mouth issue, which was originally thought to be caused by a feeder but the vet has his doubts.

I've read (can't recall where, but it makes some sense) that raising the vit C content of your gutloads can boost the cham's immune system and possibly help them kick infections. It's possible that modifying the pH of the cham's saliva might be what helps. I can't prove this in any way, but I've always used fresh citrus in my feeder bins, have had several jax and never had a temporal gland infection.
