Pomona show-Recommend hotel???

Hey, guys, this will be our first trip to that part of the country (LA/Pomona) for my husband and I. Can you recommend some hotel choices for the Pomona show?

I researched for HOURS and couldn't decide on anything. What a huge congested area. And some of the hotels I considered I found to have TERRIBLE reviews. The hotel doesn't have to be in Pomona itself.

We already got our plane tickets, and, for schedule sake, we are flying into Burbank.

We fly in Thursday evening so we can do some site seeing on Friday. Any recommendations for sites to see?

No kids in tow- so Disney and Universal studios stuff doesn't really interest us.

Thanks!

We want to know too!! :D We are driving in from Vegas but want ideas for "things to see"...we should all try to get together and meet up while there...would anyone else be interested in that?

Sheraton Fariplex Pomona is where most of us are going to crash at. . . $99 bucks a night, not too shabby! You gotta figure ALL day at the show then out with the crazy cham people for dinner or whatever you just want a place to pass out.

Thank you, Chad. I think I checked with them last week and they didn't have availability for Thursday night. But that was online. I'll give them a call.

UPDATE: OK, got 'er done. Had to pay a little more for Thursday night, but by calling in person we were able to work it all out with the special reptile show deal for the last 2 nights. That is really a very good deal on a nice room. I spent hours researching greater LA area hotels last week, and I can tell you, the reptile show special is a really good deal.

If you can change your tickets Ontario is closer to Pamona. Either way, burbank and ontario are the best ways to get into LA.

Yes, Ontario is right next door to Pomona. We'd planned to fly into there, but for the airline we are using (free tickets) Burbank had the best flight times.

I was going to suggest that also; Pomona is quite a way from LAX (for those of you flying in), as well as being across LA with probable traffic, but Ontario is just a few miles from the show.

The normal rate on the Sheraton was something like $220/night when I first called (just before the show rates were functional), so they've got to be pretty nice rooms. We ended up getting a room there at the show rate, so that's where we'll be.

ChrisNLisa; I'm sure we'll all end up meeting up Friday and/or Saturday night, and whoever wants to go to dinner is welcome. I'm apparently driving Mike and a few dart frog friends, so they'll be stuck with whatever decisions I make LOL. I'm not sure where Chad's booth is in the show, but it's not that big of a room, so we will all be in touch Saturday. I think we're driving in on Friday morning; hopefully leaving Vegas by 9 or 10AM.

Myself, Darci, Ryan and Lisa will be manning the Tiki booth. We are going to go out Fri and Sat with us and a few other reptile peeps. Everybody is more than welcome to come. We gotta do OutBack 1 night because it is just a ritual that we do but we are open to anything! It will be a great time... Lisa, did you end up moving over the hump or into Vegas?

you all make me soooo jealous :D i cant wait till i grow up and meet people who like herps. noone i know likes herps. they just like to look at them, and dont want to discuss the actual husbandry, or other herp related things.

Then you really should have gone to Daytona. Picture Chris A sitting there going on and on about taxonomy and the climate in different parts of Madagascar while 12 people mostly from Cham Forum are in a half circle around him with drool coming out of their mouths.... You all know who you are!

As far as Pomona, I'm hoping that at least for dinner, we can relax the extreme stuff.... But maybe I have my hopes set too high. I guess Anderson's not coming, so we might be off the hook. :)

We'll be free both nights (Friday and Saturday) for anything.

my parents are too strict to let me go to the daytona show. once i get my scholarship to highschool (which is in the bag) my parents will ease up on me. i could get my friend to take me though. ill try. that would be soooo fun.

Hey Gesang,
If you like plants/botanical gardens-the Huntington Library and Gardens in San Marino is a great place to do the tourist thing. They have an out of this world Japanese garden, and cactus gardens, and rose garden etc. Not to mention the Library with some amazing artwork. If you like art work there is the Getty too.

I am going to make both days....I met Darci at the LA show very briefly and Vegas Chad if you need any help or need a few hours off or anything just let me know and I will be glad to help out. Either way I am stopping by to say hello :)

Cant wait to meet you all....and whats this about Outback....its not the 'finest' of eating or watering holes around :D

Cant wait to meet people that like to talk about chams and not feel embarrassed about the subjest....YAY!!!

Awesome, please do swing by... Darci asked me what is your real name? Do you have a pic of yourself in the 'who is behind the computer' thread? We meet so many darn people its much more easy recognize a face! If we need a hand I will be sure to flag you down, thanks for the offer!

Yea, Outback is not the best place around, but its pretty darn good! :D. Reptile peep dinners are always fun. In SD we met a cop at Outback, the next day he came to the show and got a dragon for his daughter and a chameleon for him! Here is a pic of the lil girl. :) Good times.
