Plants, live or artificial?????

I now use live plants in my 2' x 2' x 4' screened cage, a pothos and also a hibiscus. I have been reading a lot lately saying even though they are on the safe list if the chameleon eats too much of it, it can become toxic? I am getting a new veiled chameleon in a couple weeks and was wondering if it would be safer for me to just use artificial plants? Anyone have any input on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ficus is a good plant to use. Also the schefflera arbicola is safe. Both can be found at home depot or lowes. Just make sure if u go with the schefflera that it is the arbicola there is another breed of schefflera that is toxic

i have a pothos in with my veiled he hasn't had any problems with it. IMO i would use live plants, easier to digest a live plant than a fake one

Hibiscus leaves are somewhat nutritious. If your chameleon eats them, it will not hurt the chameleon (though not so good for the plant). https://www.chameleonforums.com/blo...-chinese-hibiscus-hibiscus-rosa-sinensis.html

I've had a female eat nearly every leaf of a large pothos, and she's fine. I just have to have multiple plants for her. Not as healthy for eating, but unlikely to do harm either.

Thanks for the input. I like the looks of the live plants better so think I will stick with them.
