I do not understand why non of my local pet shops sell plain old PURE CALCIUM anymore? Calcium with d3.... calcium with a multitude of vits and minerals....Calcium balancers for chams/torts/iggies etc but not pure unadulterated calcium. When I ask why they no longer stock it I get the same answer "Oh we can't get that anymore". The only way I can buy calcium without lots of extra bits in it from a local pet shop (I'm in Merseyside UK)is to get to buy cuttlefish bone and powder it up myself!
Well exactly! I had no problems buying it last time and it used to be available from virtually any pet shop....and now nobody stocks it, nor can they order it in which I find a bit odd?
I have that same problem over here in South Dakota. I order a majority of my things off the internet so it's a bit easier, plus they are cheaper and if you order a certain price amount it will count it with free shipping.
I have the same problem. I can't find any calcium at my local pet stores, so i just buy it from LLL Reptile & Supply (there are one of the sponsor for this site! )
For whatever reason I think this is common nearly everywhere. Inexplicably you can't find plain, phosphorous-free calcium anywhere except online or at very few pet stores. Probably because people think "why would anyone buy just normal calcium when this calcium has other stuff in it too?"
I've learned that you definitely have to get used to buying online in this hobby, otherwise you just have to work with what you can find and that's not always best.
