Hello
This is my sambava panther poop after he started treatment for his eye, any help is greatly aprreciated.

My Sambava Panther as stated in prior post ,has his right eye closed most of the daytime. On Thursday i took him for Vet check and vet saw mild inflamation and irritation. He gave him 2 shots one was baytril and the other an antifalmatorry. Imidiatley the the cham open his right eye and kept both eyes open thorugh out the afternoon. Also he told me to put Gentamicin Drops in the eys twice a day, whch i started friday. I gave him a shower on Thursday and Today Sunday at half day and then applied the saline water rinse and gentamicin drops. He opens them for a while after the saline rinse and drops, but he might close it a bit later. Yesterday they gave him a second shot of baytril. And today was when i was able to get this poop and imidiatly a frooze it and taking it to the vet tommorw, still it doesnt look normal to me. He has not eatean i believe in the last 3-4 days. I offer him crickets and superworm. I also cleanded entirely his cage and removed some branches and relocated some branches. Also he tends to go to the bottom of the his Umbrellla Tree to sleep at night right now tempertures are a bit lower than normal at night.. But anywasy sorry for the long story , but here is all the info, any help is greatly appreciated. There are three pics one is poop, the other is the right when closed. Howdy,

I'll toss out a few thoughts...

If Baytril is needed then give it orally. It has been found to be just as effective given orally without the possibility of skin/tissue damage which can easily occur with reptiles and Baytril injections.

I would try direct misting for at least 20 minutes 2-3 times a day. Use water that isn't cold. Water temp 70F to 100F is a benefit.

Gentamicin is reasonable if there is an eye infection. If the eye/chameleon hasn't responded to treatment within a week then assume that there may (very likely) be some other problem(s). Often times a chameleon's eyes are a window into its overall health. When they shutdown, it's a sign that there are severe health issues, ranging from dehydration and parasites to organ failure and other diseases.

Don't freeze his poop. Keep it moist and at room temp in a sealed bag. Actually, there are certain parasites that need to be viewed within minutes of the poop being pooped but most of the usual suspects can easily be spotted even 24 or more hours later if the sample is kept as described.

Post photos of his setup.

Dave,

I respect your knowledge of chams and your taste in fast cars. Ask me about my (pathetic) german car collection some time.

So that you know, I've heard the opposite on Baytril on Adcham. Some vets believe that oral doesn't work as well. I'm not going to pretend I've seen enough sick chams to know the difference, but I think that digestion (retention) time may be a factor. Who knows? Me personally, I'm too scared to try oral.
