Panther Chameleons in Santa Ana Winds

I joined this forum simply to let anyone who has a panther chameleon know not to ever put him or her outside during the heat of the Santa Ana winds in California. Sadly, my husband put ours out one day and I realized he was near death. I put him in a cool bath and saved him. I STUPIDLY put him out again the other day not realizing the Santa Anas were still blowing. I didn't leave him out for long but he was gone when I went outside. I have been sick to my stomach with guilt ever since and wanted to warn anyone who might not have known about this. His coloring had changed to a bright, bright yellow both times he overheated. I am seriously crushed, as we loved this guy.

These things happen to the best of us! Unfortunately I think that same heat wave took out our nosy faly. All we want is for our chameleons to get as much love and natural sunlight as possible and im sure you wanted the same! Sorry for your loss, and once again this stuff even happens to the most experienced chameleon breeders out there so dont beat yourself up.... Just a learning experience!
