Out of ideas.

I've looked up how to get chameleons to eat, i've tried to understand what was wrong, and i've tried to solve these problems. I've run out of ideas and my chameleons not eating fluently, he'll eat a new food once and then avoid it like it's disgusting. I've tried every worm except horn and silk worms. I've tried to fix his heat to be a little more cold but nothings working. I only handle him if its to try and get him to eat.

I just looked back through threads of yours. Post pics of the entire cage including lighting....
What size feeders are you feeding? How are you feeding him? Have you gotten a fecal done to rule out a parasite issue?

should be 80 at basking branch. What is the temp?

the overall temp stays at around 80 and im not sure how it is at the stick, i'm using dubias that have not grown yet, small crickets, wax worms, and small mealworms. I have not gotten a fecal done and i will post pics of the cage tomorrow

What do you mean you do not know the temp at the stick?

I am not trying to be rude... But you have been in the hobby or at least the forum for the last year. Meal worms should not be fed and knowing the exact basking temp are very basic things to know and understand. Which means you do not have your basics down. You got this new chameleon from CB reptiles. And they are not a good breeder to buy from. A lot of people end up with sick or dead chams from them.
So getting a fecal done would be extremely important especially due to where you got him from... But even more so with it being a baby that is not eating.

I am just trying to be very honest with you because your not new here... You know how this forum goes and have had the opportunity to learn so much from all the people here. Chameleons are not easy animals to keep, it does not matter if it is a male or a female. You had a prior experience with a female. You have to know and understand how important their husbandry is. This does not change for a male. Their lives are built on all the basics of husbandry. One thing off and it throws off the balance... You add a possibly sick baby to that and you have a disaster waiting to happen.


I am more then happy to look at the images when you post them. Because the only reason I am here along with many others is to make sure chams get the proper care. But something is off. It is not normal for a baby to go 2 weeks without food. So either husbandry/enclosure is wrong or this cham is sick.

hes back from the vet and they gave us some vitamins and stuff to get rid of parasites just incase. They could not actually do anything because hes so tiny he could die but i'm going to give them a sample next time he poops

oh btw im guessing the basking temp on the stick is around 85 i know the ambient temp is 80 so thats my best guess

Not trying to sound harsh, but you need TONS more branches, vines, and live plants ASAP! Especially for a baby who feels safer in foliage!

Again, not trying to be harsh but guessing? Temps need precisely known answers, as it’s crucial to a chameleon‘s health! Could you fill out this whole form with as much detail as possible so all of your current info is on this thread?

Chameleon Info:

• Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
• Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?
• Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders?
• Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
• Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
• Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
• History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.

Cage Info:

• Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
• Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?
• Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps?
• Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
• Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
• Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?
• Location - Where are you geographically located?

Also, ALL feeders should be dusted in the proper supplement (and properly gutloaded) for that day RIGHT BEFORE feeding off! Not as only crickets in their bin... Is there mold in the cricket bin as well?

You need to go today to find a big ficus or umbrella tree for that cage. It should fill out all the way up to those top ledges. Baby has to have this for security. You have dragon ledges and you are not using them the way they should be used...
You need a feeder run... This can be home made or purchased... He is not going to go down to the bottom and eat out of that cup. He is exposed and scared.

Right now because that is the set up and feeder size I am leaning towards extreme stress and improper feeder size being the reason this baby is not eating. You have to make changes... Like today. Without them this cham will die. He is too young to not be eating.

i feed my crickets (and other feeders) with varied fruits like grapes blueberries and some vegetables. I normally dust all my bugs but at the moment its only them because they are what im feeding. All of my bugs are gutloaded to.

Ok I gave you links on how to set it up right. If you lived in my town I would just come do it for you but obviously that is not an option. So you have to do this and you have to do this today. Without these changes this baby will die.
Your going to read those links. You will need zip ties to attach everything properly. Real branches not the fake vines. Go read through them. And go get what you need including the plants. This is very very important.
