Oscar is 7 months!!

Hi guys I just wanted to post some new pics of Oscar my big boy just turned 7 months and he is such an amazing guy, such a personality. He has never hissed and he lol tolerates being handled. He will even walk on our hands, altho I still wish he would eat more crickets, and I have seen him drink!! Yes !

I do still feed him every day but .... What I do is I throw in the cage about 10-12 crickets and then some of those he keep some for the following day because he does not really like crickets anymore that’s what I think. Then he eats about 4 superworms. Once a week maybe twice I give him a hornworm, I also give him a few roaches but honestly I have yet to see him eat any of them. Now this weekend I went away on a camping trip I fed him on Friday and I did not feed him again until Sunday he was fine

Wow he's a big boy! He looks very handsome! I have a veiled and he doesn't like crickets either if they escape from the feeding cup he won't go after them. Sometimes he quit eating them entirely. It's normal.

My veiled at 3.5yrs old and he is full length of 2ft i have been feeding him every other day since he was about 9 months old. He can eat 12 crickets in a sitting. 12 superworms. 1 single full grown hornworm. Or 2 adult dubia roaches in a sitting. I give him treats on his off days mainly Spring Mix lettuces,red grape, blueberries, and strawberry.

edit to say i know their diets vary a little yours wont eat lettuce lol. but as for the fruit i have no idea if yours can have it or not. my veiled is a spoiled dude.

My panther I haven’t tried with lettuce yet but I have successfully got him to eat raspberries.
I usually give him one 1-2 times a week and he seems to like them

That’s awesome! I have yet to try to introduce any fruits... hmm I wonder I just really wish that at my local reptile stores they had a bigger selection of insects. He looked at wax worms and was like yuck I’m not touching that! I found them both right on the same leaf I left it on. Pfft and they smell and they died extremely quickly. Now butter worms he loves but I have to order them and not everyone has them, I think I paid 20 just in shipping for butter,super and a cup of hornworms. Never tried silk worms yet I would also have to order them but the places that has silk doesn’t have butter worms. Soo that’s like double shipping

@Mai I do not want to hijack you post, but because you are talking about feeders, selection's, and shipping, I thought this would be a good place to post about this.

I have not considered having a colony of butter worms, but if it is something people want, I will definitely look into it, and can possibly provide them in the near future.

Would anyone else be interested in having butter worms offered by Feeders For Friends? Are there any other requests for feeders?

Right now (but not available for orders yet) I am working on my own: Silkworms, Hornworms, Superworms, Dubai Roaches, Crickets, BSFL, Bean Beetles, Buffalo Beetles, and Mealworms (I do not like to offer those for people feeding reptiles, but it is owners choice. I just try to educate, and make sure they are aware of the risks).

Anything else people would really like to see offered? I'm always taking suggestions to expand my "menu"!

Sadly @Katacara you'd have to look into importing them from Chile to offer them. Or find someone willing to wholesale at a good price. They are imported sterile from my understanding.

I can only ever find crickets and superworms, sometimes meal worms.
I’ve read that silk worms are supposed to be really good for them and helps with hydration so I’m going to look into ordering some

Unfortunately, they are imported with a bit of radiation to prevent them from becoming moths, because the moths are a pest, and are huge.

Yup that’s exactly right that’s why they are harder to find I just wish one place had them all. From what I was told from the reptile expo. Butter worms are the equivalent of 4 crickets. So I jumped on it, and Oscar loves them. The sad part is that they are harder to get a hold off and you can’t gutload them. But they smell good and you just put them in the refrigerator they last for a About a month they say 2 months but Oscar ate them before then.

The only feeders Ive bought from them are bsfl, butters, supers, mantis and crickets though. They always have discoids but there is a guy in Georgia that I bought my 500 count starter from for less lol.

Another great place for feeders is rainbowmealworms they offer butters, supers, etc. and they are always very healthy! Also there is always ebay, you can find pretty good deals on different feeders too!
