Hi everyone,

I need some help with my chameleon I just got this chameleon from a friend who couldn’t house it anymore. The chameleon is 6 months old and I put it in its new cage and at night she’s fine but when I turn the lights on she freaks out and keeps passing out I think due to stress new environment. When I say passing out it means her eyes close she freezes starts heavily breathing through her mouth then a minute later will settle and start walking again. She is continuing to do this and it’s happening for longer and longer periods of time as the stress is probably putting a toll on her. I have the same lighting temperature everything as the last owner. Should I take her to the vet? Her colouring hasn’t changed much she’s still Green just darker patches.
Any tips to calm her down would be great.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Can you post pics, chameleons sleeping or closing eyes during day hours is never good though, a vet visit would be best.

What kind of chameleon ? Sometimes when they get frantic they will move very quick, stop & close eyes. This has happened to us when we had a Jacksons that totally hated water; yes could very well be linked to stress

Hi and welcome to the forum. :)
That sounds strange what your chameleon is doing. Since it is seeming to last for longer periods of time, something can’t be right. Any chance you could get a video of it? If so, you’ll have to upload it to something like YouTube and then post the link here. Also, if you would kindly provide your husbandry details thru the help form below (copy & paste), it would better help determine what, if anything is off. Pictures of your chameleon and enclosure top to bottom are a huge help also.
