Hello!
My names Dan Bolduc. Recently i've obtained a new family member, A High Translucent Veiled Male. He's wonderful and i'm thoroughly enjoying keeping him.

I've Had Reptiles before, but i was wondering if you have any tips for a newbie on the chameleon scene. Personally i am used to Monitors and Tegus, a much different type of reptile.

Any suggested foods?

Plants to avoid?

Favorited plants?

Tips and tricks?

Currently he's in a hanging zoo med expandable, with heat lighting, uva/uvb lighting, and a regular daylight basking light. Plenty of vines and branches, Great drip system and good humidity in the room as well as temp. ( he's in my fish breeding room, so high temp((72-78 room temp)) and moderate humidity)

Feeding Gut loaded crickets as well as Radicchio ( Red lettuce), Dandelion greens, Collard greens, Mustard greens and watercress.

Thanks for your time and any advice/knowledge you can send my way.

Hi! Welcome!

You'll find loads of info here. Wow, you sure started with a specialty chameleon.

I strongly recommend you read over everything in the "Basic Husbandry" section of this form.

Just based on what you wrote, I'm hoping you have a basking light (can be a regular household bulb) to give him a place he can go that's around 85-90 degrees and a UVB bulb that doesn't give him heat, but gives him the oh, so necessary UVB light that helps him process calcium properly.

Oops did i not say that i have a basking? haha i do !!

Also, I have his crickets being lightly dusted with a Repashy Vitamin/calcium supplement.
