I've just got a new 3 month old panther chameleon for Christmas!
I've never kept anything like this before and have read they are extremely hard to keep! My boyfriend got it for me and clearly never done his research! I think I have him set up right now, he seems to be ok! However I just want some advice on whether some of his behaviour is normal!
He's got a 13 watt UVB light and a basking light. I'm unsure of the wattage for this however the guy in the shop assured me it would be ok for him.
I have it hooked up to a thermostat which I am unsure what to set it as! I have been setting it at around 80f in the day and down to 70f at night, is this correct?
He has small crickets which I feed him daily however he only eats around 5 a day, I've heard they should eat more? Is there any reason why this would be?
He also has been scratching his head with his back legs and rubbing his neck on the sticks, is this him shedding?
I mist him around 5-6 times a day until I get a drip system but he still tries to lick the brown sticks that stay dry?
I know he's a panther chameleon however I'm not sure where he originates from, we can't seem to get through to the shop he was bought from! He's light brown when he's happy and has an orange neck!
I think he's a boy however it's to early to tell I think.
Any advice you can give me on this little fella is greatly welcomed as like I said I haven't kept chams before.
Thanks!!
