New panther chameleon

I've just got a new 3 month old panther chameleon for Christmas!
I've never kept anything like this before and have read they are extremely hard to keep! My boyfriend got it for me and clearly never done his research! I think I have him set up right now, he seems to be ok! However I just want some advice on whether some of his behaviour is normal!
He's got a 13 watt UVB light and a basking light. I'm unsure of the wattage for this however the guy in the shop assured me it would be ok for him.
I have it hooked up to a thermostat which I am unsure what to set it as! I have been setting it at around 80f in the day and down to 70f at night, is this correct?
He has small crickets which I feed him daily however he only eats around 5 a day, I've heard they should eat more? Is there any reason why this would be?
He also has been scratching his head with his back legs and rubbing his neck on the sticks, is this him shedding?
I mist him around 5-6 times a day until I get a drip system but he still tries to lick the brown sticks that stay dry?
I know he's a panther chameleon however I'm not sure where he originates from, we can't seem to get through to the shop he was bought from! He's light brown when he's happy and has an orange neck!
I think he's a boy however it's to early to tell I think.
Any advice you can give me on this little fella is greatly welcomed as like I said I haven't kept chams before.
Thanks!!

He could still be stressed out, which might be why he's not eating as much, but he could also just not have a super big appetite. as long as he's eating!! Not sure about the other stuff..though I know that if you get pics from the side of his tail/vent area, people on here can sex them! (i'm still super new, so take my words with a grain of salt). Do you have a temp probe? Gotta make sure that temp is at 80 or so!

Welcome. I'm fairly new here too. You don't need any lights on at night. They need dark to sleep well. Your lil one will be settling in, give him time and he should eat more once he feels secure.
Read the care sheets for panthers and read read read, all great info and knowledgable people on here.
I believe panthers lick branches and stuff when checking their home out.
Pics are a must too ;) Kath.

Thankyou! I'm growing really attached to him/her!
So really want to make sure I'm doing everything right.
I will post pictures shortly

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your new panther! Post some pictures of the vent(where they poop) or tail base as it is called and we should be able to tell you if it is a male or female. At 3 months old, it is difficult to distinguish sex through colors, so it is done by the examining the tail base.

His orange neck! I'll try and get one of his bum area! Hopefully this will tell me the sex! I have a feeling it's a girl. Just from what I've read online

a close up will be the best way. From what you posted, I think female. Female also have less pronounced rostrals(the part that sticks out on their nose) but at 3 months it is also hard to tell.

I'm trying to get a close up but it's proving difficult.
I've called him/her Carlos! I might have to change it to Carlosa or something!

I'm still sort if new at this, and it is still rather young. But my guess is you've got yourself a nice young girl
