New Meller's, Charlotte

That was my baby :( . I recognized her right away. Im glad she is doing well. I was always under the impression it was a male lol.

I'll let you know if I'm right or wrong then lol. I just have my suspicions, but time will tell. I'm giving her a few weeks to settle in and then I'll introduce her to my other two. I have one confirmed female, so their behavior should give me some more clues.

Her lobes are super distinctive! I didn't notice from prior photos but now in person it's really obvious. It's a really neat trait.

Olimpia, great photos. What a beautiful cham! Charlotte looks like she will be a lot of fun. Can't wait to hear how she gets along with the others!

Scalloped Lobes?

What beautiful pics of the Meller's. My Mellers don't have scalloped lobes. Are there different subspecies of Mellers?

Anyone know a good way to sex them?

Attached are some pics of my plus size gal Melissa Meller.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks Deb! We'll see in a couple weeks how it goes! My second one, my little guy, is still too small and afraid of Guin. He's not even half her weight, so he doesn't like her even though she's very curious about him. Charlotte is bigger, so we'll see how it goes.

Very nice photos Olimpia of such a beautiful Melleri.
I like the name. ;)

Thanks Jann!

Wooow very nice Olimpia... I know she will get even better under your care...:)

Thanks! I'm hoping she gets even bigger but overall she's in excellent shape. It's nice to get a Meller's in good shape!

Thanks! She's the first with scalloped lobes I've ever seen, so it may be fairly atypical. The other 4 I've had/have have the typical round lobes.

There are lots of theories about how to sex them, but you pretty much just have to add up the little signs and see if you're right. One sure-fire way of sexing them is to get an ultrasound done (maybe even an x-ray, if you have a good reptile vet that knows what to look for) to see if you can spot egg follicles or testes in the abdomen. Or straight up eggs if the female is working on any.

She's huge! How much does she weight/measure?

Melissa's weight

It's not polite to ask a woman's weight but I can tell you she's more than 20 ounces.

Here she is enjoying a day at the spa.
