Hi, I recently got a mist king misting system, and i use a large 5 gallon water resevoir. I use zoomeds water treatment, because toronto tap water is some nasty S**t. Anyway, i smelled the water, and it smells alittle bad, not like putrid but it was reletively smelly, is this a bad thing. Or is this just the way it nutrilized heavy metals and chlorine. I really dont want to Replace a 5 gallon water bucket every day. so, yea, please help.

i guess the smell could be a product of a chemical reaction. i would assume however, that you would need to actually test the water's biology to find out if it's actually bad or not

My Dad when he raise tropical fish had to have the water a certain way-aged is what it was called.

He use to fill up galleon jugs and let them sit open in the basement on the ledge that was actually the wall of the cellar. He left them there for a week. uncovered and never poured the entire contents into the tank. left about an inch to inch and a half in the jug so the sediments would not go into the tanks . This process might help you :)

yea but this product is suposed to speed that up. also toronto tap water is so shitty i dont even trust the 24 hours

yeah here we age are water for our plants... it lets most of the chemicals in the water evaperate out.... we use water from the riogrande/ and the aquafer under the city...

it's probably not needed, but i would take a sample and look at it under a microscope. the smell could also be waste from bacteria

I make be mistaken but doesn't zoomed water treatment also contain vitamins? That could be the smell.

Edit, I looked and it adds electrolytes and ion to the water.

Well, i trust zoomed, i have had very few problems with them in the past. They weren't able to ship to Denmark when i was living there. I emailed them and they went through all the trouble of sending me lots of stuff, they even didnt charge me half of the shipping, even now im one of the people they send some products like the Deep Dome, for testing.

PS. UV lights in denmark are useless, i had to go all the way to germany to get decent ones.

I use "Repti-safe" and it smells pretty bad, the water after treating it retains the same odor just not as bad. Does the water smell like the treatment that you are using?

i use 10 gallons of water a week, that much r/o water is pricy over long term. and the systems aparently dont get rid of all the problems with our local water

i think im just going to suck it up and buy distilled water, i hear if you buy it by the 30 gallon resevoirs its 50% cheaper.

Do you drink tap water?

Would you personally drink the water in question?

if you question your cities water. go buy filtered water by the gallon at any super market.

i drink the water, but i hear about women in particular getting a high risk of thyroid cancer from the water, ive only lived here for 2 years, and im not fully aware of how it may or may not have affected me

Wow that is bad! I never used one but how about something like the Brita water filter you put on your tap?

Good luck in figuring this out because you can not do without the water and if it is bad water poor Cham!

Is it a sulfur smell?
