I've done that, gone to vet, gone to breeders, he is hanging in there. He eats great, drinks very well, is active. But he won't open his eyes. When I went to the vet with all the info they gave me some evil eye ointment and it made his eyes shut. They said it was an eye infection and it was antibioticointment. He is fine can do everything but open his eyes his grip is coming back nicely.

Do not feed meal worms. They are potentially an impaction risk. His eyes still ebing closed is not good. Why will you not fill out the form or state what lighting you are using?

I didn't read I will fill it out I filled it out for the vet and breeders. but I will fill it out hold on. doing so now

Please turn off the compact UVB-did you know they cause eye issues, blindness, etc? That very well may fix your issue (then again-it may not). You also need to research supplements.

he has had the eye issue B4 and ive tried with out that light and it hadnt gotten better or worse plus my breeder friend uses them and nothing has ever happened to his chams. I do agree I need to do more supliment research I saw a thread floating around here about it thanks for your help juli I will try the light thing again I guess

There are supposedly some safer compacts out there, but I don't think Zoomed is in the clear just yet. Your guy is a baby so the effects are far worse from those lights-so just because your breeder friend uses them does not make them OK. I would get a linear tube UVB-he won't heal over night-so give him some time, as in week+ to open his eyes. He may also have permanent damage.

Your breeder friends may have been lucky and got the good bulbs. They are nearly impossible to tell the difference.

I agree with Juli . It can take up to 3 weeks depending on how bad the damage is.

One thing for sure if you continue the use of the bulb "if its bad" you will do permanent damage and it will not be reversible.

Not to be rude or anything, but i haven't heard any stories of someones cham being blinded by these lights. I'm pretty sure the zoo med ones have been cleared.

How long before the lights go out are you feeding him for the 3rd time? They need about 2 hours after with the lights on so that they can be warm enough to digest what they just ate before going to sleep.

Also, your lights may be on for a bit too long. The recommended time is 12-14 hours per day with 12 hours being the most common.

I don't know if these would have anything to do with Xeno's eye problems. Let us know what happens!

I was about to comment on the animal only getting 9 1/2 hours without the light. I think this is one of those confusing things that starts badly at the store. We were told "turn it on when you get up, turn it off when you go to bed"....It's a lengthy learning process because so many times you get told something by someone who should know, but it turns out to be wrong.

If you hav enot heard anything-you have not been on this forum long. It comes up almost daily. As recently stated, some manufacturers are putting out new product that is supposed to be safer, but it is often difficult to tell which ones are OK and which ones are not. Bottom line-there IS proof that these bulbs have caused blindness, eye issues, and death.
