My First DIY Enclosure

So I decided to make an enclosure for my 7month old panther. I plan on getting him out of his small starter enclosure in the next upcoming months and transferring him to this adult enclosure.

After much research through this forum, I've gone with 1 x 2 pine and decided the dimensions would like roughly 24" L x 36" W x 48" H.

Its a work in progress but thought I'd start this just to show its progress.

I am about to start staining after sanding with some minwax water based stain.

My next obstacle is to figure out how to secure the screen.... Any suggestions???

Anybody recommend any additional features I should add??

if you have a table saw you sould probably cut a groove on the inside and secure the screen using spline just like they do on widows/doors

looking good! I stapled my screen and then trimmed it again to hide the edges. Be sure to post some finished pics

I had thought to staple, but then had the revelation that if I'm going through all this trouble (spent about 2hrs sanding it all nice nice) I may as well make a groove and such. Undecided still :-/

Thanks though.... more updates to come

any more "work in progress" pictures or finished pictures, I've built several "tanks" and lids for my snakes, but the cham i have now is a first for me, managed to get the large screened in cage for cheap(used) but if he needs a bigger one i'll more than likely be building it

lookin good, Use the same tools myself, curious about setting the screen as you mentioned a groove thing.

Simply said...beautiful!
Those are the dimensions I would love to have! Gonna have to live with 2x3x3 though.
You sure can see the work you have put into it

Nice Cage! Here's an idea for a cheap easy way to spruce up your nozzle install. Just a couple washers from Home Depot or Lowes. Cheers!

When I built my cage, I nailed the screen to the planks of wood, pulled the screen tight and nailed to the opposite end. It came it PERFECT
