My Chameleon keeps going from dark green to light green

Hey guys my veiled chameleon likes to chill on a branch but when he does he gets really dark green and lays on the branch, is that normal?

Mine does too, the darker color helps absorb the heat. Do you notice that he is lighter colored/light green when he's sleeping?

Yeah he is light green when he sleeps

I got him in March 2017 so I think he is about 5 months

all i have to do is look at my dudes cage and i can see his lime green. tonight he was especially happy
