The 'Too Many' bug stories are much better than my 'Not Enough' bug story.
Started setting up a dubia colony about a month before my chameleon arrived, those things grow SO SLOWLY. I've now finished all the babies and we only have enormous adults left, who seem to be using very effective contraception.
Ordered a load of bugs from a couple of different suppliers:
The silkworms arrived and half were already mush, the rest have died off rapidly, and 2 weeks after they were delivered I have 3 sickly looking worms left from 50, none of them were fed off, just in case they were too ill.
The hornworms arrived already as big as my thumb, far too big to feed off, so they are in dirt in a box in the basement, and are happily sitting there and doing NOTHING AT ALL apart from waving their heads a bit when I open the box. Plus two escaped before their basement banishment and Hubbles found one on the placemats, hence their banishment.
Phoenix worms are waaaay too small for anyone to pay attention to.
Butterworms seem to creep them all out, so nobody will eat them, except my dragon, and he refuses to eat the pink ones.
My previous batch of silkworms all successfully cocooned, but hatched at different times so only once did I manage to get a pair, but the female died before the male let go, creepy beast.
Keeping track? I now have phoenix worms and butterworms left, and Ivy isn't interested in either. She loves crickets, but I really resent paying Petco prices and there are no other feeder stores nearby, and I've spent over $100 in feeders in the last month!!! The bloody shipping costs are a killer. Think she might be stuck with Petco bugs for a while.
